Joe Brown with Special Guest Dave Edmunds
Joe Brown needs little introduction. The pioneer of British guitarists
and undisputed Daddy of UK rock 'n' roll, he's the man who's inspired
nearly everyone from George Harrison to Jeff Beck to Mark Knopfler.
His latest CD "Down To Earth" shows his love of all things roots and
rhythmic and continues his tradition of superb playing and great
harmonising with his stalwart band the Bruvvers (augmented on this tour
by Joe’s record-producing son Pete).
Joe's widely acclaimed appearance at Glastonbury Festival and his
stellar performance on the George Harrison tribute show ably serve to
emphasise what a legend this man is.
For these dates Joe is joined another British icon....the one and
only Dave Edmunds. The man who 'knew the bride when she used to rock n,
roll', whose swagger and guitar genius saw him signed to Led Zeppelin's
Swansong label and whose hits lit up the charts world-wide. Dave kept
the rock beacon burning brightly with songs such as 'Girls Talk', ‘Queen
Of Hearts’ and 'I Hear You Knocking' and still found time to work with
Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne and the Everly
Brothers, to name but a few.
Joe Brown and Dave Edmunds - a remarkable combination, an
inspirational pairing of singer /songwriter / guitar heroes and an
evening that's got to be compulsory for anyone who calls themselves a
music lover. It's going to be great! |
JOE GOES TO THE TREASURY
You may have seen Joe on SKY News or BBC news 24 or in the national
press this Spring due to his support and lead on the Copyright
protection Term. The situation with the copyright term for records in
this country is dreadfully antiquated with effectively a period of fifty
years from the release date of the record, after which anyone in the
world can take an Artist's recordings ( even the original recordings )
and then release them however they like without even paying the Artist,
session musicians, producer or original record company for its use. This
term has in the last few years been changed in the USA to 95 years and
in almost all other major territories to 70 years and Joe has taken a
leading role in the UK record Industry's campaign to have the term
extended.
Together with Jethro Tull lead singer Ian Anderson he recently delivered
a music industry petition to The Treasury calling upon the Government to
address this hopelessly out of date statute.
